Experiencing inclusion through immersive perspectives at TU Graz
At this year’s Day of Inclusion at TU Graz, where XREye was invited for the second time, our XR simulations once again demonstrated how powerful immersive tools can be for raising awareness. Participants were able to experience firsthand how even subtle changes in vision can dramatically influence movement, communication and confidence in everyday situations. These immediate impressions opened the door to meaningful conversations that would have been difficult to spark through traditional explanations alone.
A catalyst for reflection and empathy
Throughout the event, visitors shared their reactions and insights as they moved through the simulations. Many were surprised by how quickly simple tasks became challenging. Others reflected on how often accessibility is overlooked in everyday environments, even in places designed for learning and collaboration. The experience emphasized that empathy is not something that can be taught only through information, but something that grows when people can feel what others experience.
Discussions that matter
The event inspired many thoughtful exchanges. Participants discussed how accessibility should be integrated into educational settings, the principles behind inclusive design and how people with different levels of vision navigate their daily routines. These conversations made clear that inclusion is a shared responsibility that requires awareness, understanding and continuous effort.
Why experiences make a difference
For XREye, the Day of Inclusion reaffirmed one of our central insights: awareness grows fastest when the experience becomes tangible. Immersive simulations help people understand the challenges that individuals with visual impairments face, and this understanding often leads to more thoughtful decisions in design, communication and everyday interactions.
Looking forward
We are grateful for the invitation and the many meaningful dialogues that shaped the day. Events like this show how much potential lies in combining technology with empathy-driven learning. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with TU Graz and contributing to future initiatives that strengthen awareness and inclusion.
