XREye is an award-winning XR technology developed to simulate vision impairments and raise awareness through immersive experiences. The software and its founder, Dr. Katharina Krösl, have received multiple prestigious awards and nominations for innovation in extended reality and accessibility research. These include the Living Standards Award 2024, a nomination for the Hedy Lamarr Award 2023, the Futurezone Women in Tech Award 2022, and the Liese Prokop Award (Science & Technology) 2022. Additional honors include an Honorable Mention for the IEEE VGTC Virtual Reality Outstanding Dissertation Award 2022, the Young Experts Award at Austrian Computer Science Day 2021, and the Best Research Demo Award at IEEE VR 2020. XREye’s contributions have also been recognized with a 3rd place finish at ACM SIGGRAPH Thesis Fast Forward 2019 and a nomination for Best Conference Paper at IEEE VR 2019.
